Novice night is held every Wednesday to train members who do not have their wings.  It is very important that people new to R/C flying get proper instruction and training.  I can guarantee without proper training, you WILL crash your plane.  With our training system of using instructors and 'buddy boxes' you can learn to fly with very reduced risk to you, your plane, and by-standers.  Of course, if you are an experienced R/C pilot, you'll just need to be checked out by one of the instructors to receive your wings and have flying rights when you become a member.

Before you become a member you are welcome to come out on Wednesday evenings from 5 until dark and bring your plane along.  You will be able to receive instruction through our Intro Pilot Program for a 30 day period.  This program will help you decide if you like flying and allows us to train people interested in radio control flying while they obtain the required membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).  Skystreakers is an AMA chartered club and all members who fly are required to be members of the AMA.  When bringing your plane to the field for the first time (and each time thereafter), be sure to have your transmitter AND receiver batteries fully charged, have the necessary tools and materials to attach the wing to the fuse and to start your engine, bring your fuel, and be sure to take your transmitter to the transmitter impound (the rack with the frequency pin board) without turning it on.  You may remove your transmitter from the impound ONLY when you have the pin that matches your transmitter channel.  Also, don't be surprised if the plane is not completely ready to go after the first check out.  Often there is more work or adjustments needed that might not be able to be completed at the field.
